How to open ACSM files
After ordering an e-book on Europe Law Publishing, you will receive a .acsm file. The ACSM file contains a digital book protected by Adobe DRM.
In the case of Adobe DRM, authorization is obtained by associating the device (through the corresponding application) with a Adobe ID personal, which uniquely identifies the buyer. In addition to the book itself, an ACSM file also contains various information related to the type of protection used: the data of those who bought the title, the means used for the purchase, the cryptographic key and a number of other additional data.
Below, you can find a a number of programs and applications that can be used to register and open your ACSM, as well as how to create an Adobe ID (free but essential to achieve the required goal).
How to open ACSM files from PC
The easiest method to open ACSM files on your PC is to use the software Adobe Digital Editions, which is freely available for Windows or MacOS. This program allows you to view (and transfer) ACSM files in a couple of clicks. Before continuing, I would like to point out that for the book in question to read correctly, it will need to have a Adobe ID.
That said, let's take action immediately: first, get the program's installation file by connecting to the appropriate website and clicking on the specific link for the operating system in use on your computer, i.e. Windows o MacOS (Macintosh).
Once the file download is complete, launch it and act according to the most appropriate procedure for your computer.
- Windows - Press the button yes, put the check mark next to the article I accept the license conditions, click twice on the button siguiente and complete the configuration by pressing the buttons install y final. If necessary, click on the item No thanks to avoid installing additional software.
- MacOS - Double-click the file PKG contained in the package dmg previously downloaded. Press the button siguienteclick on the buttons accept e install to start the installation procedure. When prompted, enter the Mac administrator password to confirm everything.
Once the program installation is complete, launch it and first click on the menu Help> Authorize computer ... Located at the top to allow the PC in use to read the DRM content.
Adobe ID
Once done, enter your credentials from the Adobe ID, if you already have one, or create an account immediately with the button Create an Adobe ID.
Immediately afterwards, a browser window should open containing a form to fill in all its fields (name y surname, e-mail, password y birthdate). When you're done, click the button Registration, being careful to write down the chosen email address and password.
After the registration phase, return to the Adobe Digital Editions window and fill in the suggested fields with Adobe ID newly created (the email address) and the password, then click on Authorize to complete the PC authorization procedure. Finally, close the window by pressing the button to accept.
From now on, simply double-click on the ACSM file in question to immediately open it with the newly installed program, adding the book it contains to the library associated with the Adobe ID specified during setup.
To start reading the book, simply click on the cover that appears on the left side of the program.
